Steven Main is well-known for his landform representations and heavily cased hand-blown pieces rich in color. Steven's pieces reflect his interest in the patterns found in nature, like the striations in rocks and the visual rhythms of plants. The vivid colors that are achieved in Steven Main's art glass is created by the laying out of the pulled rods on the hot marver. The blowpipe is rolled over to pick up the pattern, to the colored glass. the clear glass is added in layers to ad the depth to the piece. The hot glass is then blown out to the desired shape.
