When Kristy Sly was first introduced to the medium of glass she found the technical process of cutting and building windows addictive. She challenged herself to improve her understanding of glass as a medium and to has been exploring various methods to showcase the inherent beauty of glass. Later, Sly developed a curiosity for melting glass in a kiln, crucible and furnace, and for incorporating metal into her work. Today her passion is kiln fired glass. Through the long, grey Winters in Wisconsin, Sly looks to vibrant color and striking patterns that are reflected in her glass.
Each piece of Sly's work is food safe, however it should always be hand washed in order to retain the glossy finish. Pieces should not be used in a microwave and a paper towel should be placed in between each piece for storage.
