As the Nourot Glass Studio moves into the fourth decade, the quest to maintain the quality that they are known for with the hand blown glass. Nourot Studio is one of the few studios that melts their own glass from scratch. They combine silica, lime and soda ash to make the glass and metal oxides for the color. Michael Nourot is known for his bold, luminescent red glass. Each piece is hand blown, unique, signed and registered by he same method since the studio began: studio name, series letters, piece number, year and the artist's initials.
The "Scarlet Nova" Mantle Flunt on this page is lined with the gold luster(actually made with silver) and tipped with the black lip wrap. It sits on the black foot, with the glow of the gold luster at the base.
